A warm hello to everyone out there in Brick and Click land! We are now accepting proposals for the 12th Annual Brick and Libraries Symposium!!

The symposium consists of 50 minute presentation sessions and 10 minute lightning rounds. Feel free to pick which fits your presentation style or content best.

Topic suggestions from the 2011 Evaluation submitted by attendees include marketing electronic resources, best practices for virtual reference, benefits of discovery tools, and the future of libraries. Other topics are welcomed, additional suggestions can be found on the Sample Topics page.

The proposal deadline is March 5, but don't wait, submit your idea today!!

It's that magical time of year, time to submit your proposal! Brick and Click looks for sessions that provide relevant and practical solutions to issues in all areas of academic librarianship.

Choose the presentation length that best fits the amount of content you have or your presentation style, a 50 minute session (up to 4 presenters) or a 10 minute lightning round (solo presenter).

2010 Proceedings Full Text in ERIC

We were notified recently that the submission of the 2010 Brick and Click Libraries Proceedings to ERIC was accepted. Each presenter is offered the option to submit a paper based on their presentation to be included in the proceedings, the 2010 Proceedings contains 22 full papers. Enjoy!

Ok, so probably not everyone gets as excited as me about this, but the bags and lanyards are here!! The pens are @ en route in St. Joseph and should be here in the next couple of days.

It seems like forever ago that we selected red, black and white for the colors this year and took the 10th Anniversary pictures, but in two weeks we'll be gathering with librarians from Hawaii to Massachusetts, plus a lovely Canadian, to share information, discuss solutions to common problems, and learn about technologies that can aid on-site and online students.

Hope you are having an outstanding Fall term.

The 2009 Brick & Click Proceedings are available in ERIC.

Yet again this year we had great turn around time with our submission to ERIC.

Editor Connie Ury states in the introduction for the 2009 Proceedings: "This year’s proceedings are chock full of information that encourages us to use digital means to make sense of our environment as a whole—both the brick and the click elements. Some of the authors’ goals are to share ways they are helping both students and faculty hone their information literacy skills. Others are evaluating students’ and faculty skills in areas such as accessing RSS feeds, searching the Web, retrieving information from proprietary databases, interpreting and creating citations, and evaluating the quality of sources."

We held our first open house on the third week of the fall semester. We had 5 stations highlighting various stations of the library, services and electronic resources. Both Freshmen & Returning students came. Many returning students commented that they learned about resources that were new to them. We had great gift baskets as grand prizes for students that completed a cross-word puzzle relating to library services.
